Petroleum Jelly vs. Tattoo Balm
Petroleum jelly is precisely what it sounds like: a gel-like byproduct of petroleum, a type of crude oil that was discovered by oil rig workers in the 1800s who noticed it accumulating on the machinery at the bottom of empty oil barrels and though petroleum jelly in your medicine cabinet is more refined than its predecessor from the nineteenth century, it is still an oil byproduct.
First sign of concern is that, because it’s an oil byproduct petroleum jelly is not Eco-friendly not to mention that it is made from a non-renewable resource. Petroleum jelly is supposedly safe in its purest form however, If the product contains any impurities, these contaminants may contain carcinogens such as poly aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH) and it is not a requirement in the United States for manufacturers to remove them. Petroleum is found in one out of every 14 cosmetic products, according to the Environmental Working Group. That's a lot of products with the potential to contain carcinogens. Why compromise?

We've Using Almost Every Product Out There!
We can honestly say that we've tried almost every tattoo product on the market in the last 25 years of our careers and have never been satisfied with the results. While other areas of the industry have been revolutionized and improved, such as tattoo machines progressing from a "stick and poke" approach to using coil machines, to the cartage machines now we use today. We noticed that products designed specifically for use during the tattoo process as well as to aid in the healing process of your tattoo were not given as much attention.
Tattoo artists still swear by products like A&D ointment and Vaseline, which, while once the best solution, we now know are outdated and far from ideal. Over the years, we've noticed a difference in our work and how our clients heal using various products that simply didn’t work well compared to our tattoo balm - Platinum Rose Tattoo Aftercare.
Everyone is unique and will react differently to getting tattooed as well as the product they use during the healing process. We discovered that the most effective and sustainable option for you our amazing clients who trust us to provide artwork that reflects your vision and stay bold, solid, bright and clean for as long a physically possible, is a simple yet a vital nutrient dense, clean, organic, vegan friendly, petroleum and paraben-free based formula you can trust.
